The 6 Books I Want To Read Next

In 2019, I’m really trying to read A LOT more than I have in the past.

…but I’m failing so far. I’ve only read three (and a half) books so far. Meanwhile, my girl Emily is on like her 20-something book (YAS GIRL). But I know March is going to be different, I’ve been adding books to my reading list left and right. I typically get my recommendations from other bloggers, publishers’ Instagrams, and the people in my office (a lot of us are nerds).

Since I was horrible at reading in February, I decided to share what’s on my reading list! As a preface, I LOVE thrillers, murder mysteries, and historical fiction (specifically WWII and Nazi Germany history). I really don’t like books that make me happy. WEIRD, RIGHT?!

Reconstructing Amelia

My intern, Mackenzie, recommended this book and I’ve been waiting for it to become available at the library for weeks! I’m SO excited to read it because it’s described as a real thriller. Kate gets a call from her daughter’s school saying Amelia has been suspended. But when she gets there, she learns Amelia has jumped to her death…until Kate gets a text saying, “She didn’t jump”.

AHHHH GOOSEBUMPS. So stoked to read this one.

The Tattooist Of Auschwitz

Another coworker mentioned this book a while ago, and it’s been on my list since.

This one is based on the true story about a Slovakian Jew who is sent to Auschwitz and becomes a tattooist — to permanently mark his fellow prisoners. The book goes through the horrific actions that he saw over the years…as well as acts of bravery and love during the darkest years.

I honestly have no idea how I found this book, but I did. And now it’s on my list.

This one is about a struggling writer who accepts the offer of a lifetime: Complete the remaining books of a successful series that cannot be finished by Verity Crawford (an award winning author). When she arrives at the home, she uncovers an unfinished autobiography that was never intended for anyone to read. It uncovers what really happened the day Verity’s daughter died.

DUN DUN DUN. Sounds like a page turner, no?

The Banker’s Wife

Again, I think Grace recommended this book…as usual.

When Annabel finds out her husband’s plane crashes in the Alps, her life is shattered. But, when she finds clues that his death may not be all it seems, she puts herself in the crosshairs of powerful enemies and questioned whether she knew her husband at all. Meanwhile, a journalist is investigating the bank where Matthew worked…and discovered evidence of a shocking global scandal that implicates someone close to home…and now she has to make an impossible choice.

The Silent Patient

I laugh because literally every book (well almost) I read starts with the word “The”. Like this one. ANYWAY.

Another seemingly perfect life. Until one day Alicia walk into her grand home and shoots her husband in the face five times…and then never speaks another word. Her refusal to speak turns a tragedy into something more: A mystery that captures the public and casts Alicia into notoriety. There’s a criminal psychotherapist who has waited a long time for the opportunity to work with Alicia and get her to talk. And the search for the truth threatens to consume him..

The Truth About The Harry Quebert Affair

I think my intern ALSO recommended this book!

This novel recounts the investigation of Marcus Goldman, a successful novelist, who attempts to clear the name of his former professor (Harry Quebert), accused of having murdered a young girl whom he had an affair with. Marcus launches his own investigation by following a trail of clues through his mentor’s books. He must answer three questions, all of which are mysteriously connect: Who killed the girl? What happened on that morning in the summer of 1975? And how do you write a book to save someone’s life?

  • Gonna admit it, I was 100% a hater before I stepped into @precisionrun🤫 I've had a love/hate relationship since I started running competitively in 2006. After a knee injury, laziness, and just being over running 35 miles a week for 4 years of my life...I stopped in college. I decided to get back into it and complete a few half marathons. Then, the lazy mindset crept back in, so I quit👎🏻 And that's how I became a hater. Honestly, I just resented running a bit. Until last night. Thanks to @davidsiik, running became FUN for me again. I can't wait to incorporate #precisionrun into my every day routine and fall back in love with the sport that has done so much for me❤️🙌🏻💪🏻 #ad #running #runner
