The Story Behind The Rebranding (And Why It’s OK To Do It)

Rebranding my blog was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done. I MEAN EVER.

That may sound dramatic, but it really was. I had no idea how I was going to feel once The Champagne Edit went live, and I certainly didn’t have a clue as to how people were going to react.

Pink Champagne Problems was part of my life since 2012. It got me through some of the not so great parts of my life, and has given me some of the biggest opportunities in my 25 years of living. My following grew because of the Pink Champagne Problems name. My brand WAS Pink Champagne Problems. My business IS Pink Champagne Problems.

But I knew it was time to move on.

Over the last half of the year, I felt tired of Pink Champagne Problems. It didn’t roll off my tongue anymore and I was almost embarrassed when someone asked me what my blog name was. People would call me “Pink Champagne”, and my blog name wasn’t a reflection of myself. I wasn’t the 20 year old college junior anymore. So I decided to do something about it. And that’s when the rebranding happened.

The Name Game

So now that you know I felt like I was outgrowing Pink Champagne Problems, let me tell you the thought process behind The Champagne Edit. I knew I wanted to keep “champagne” in my blog name. I didn’t want to forget where I started, and let’s be honest…champagne is one of my favorite things in this world. I knew I wanted an updated name though: something a bit shorter, more sophisticated, and nothing to do with pink. Because I don’t even like pink that much anymore. So The Champagne Edit popped in my head one day while I was commuting home, and it stuck with me, even as other ideas came to mind. It sounds more elevated, and I love how my blog is an “edited” version of my life!

My Content Changed

In 2017, I really started shifting my content. I’ll repeat this every chance I get, this space will ALWAYS be a fashion/style blog. But I love writing so much, and I love the response I get when I write meaningful content. So with this re-brand will become a plethora of new content. I want to make sure I’m encompassing all of the things I love most: fashion, my job, blogging, life/relationships, and traveling. I’m really excited to see where 2018 leads me in ALL aspects of my life.

I Felt Bored

Don’t get me wrong, 2017 was my BEST year yet in terms of blogging. I was excited that I was growing in all aspects of my business, but I still felt bored. Re-branding was a great way to shake things up and feel excited about my blog. I was so motivated while I was “off” for a week, that I had planned out weeks worth of content. I scheduled outfit shoots. I made a list of brands I wanted to reach out to in 2018. I have my editorial calendar set for months. Talk about motivation, huh?!

If YOU’RE Thinking About Rebranding…

JUST DO IT. But make sure it’s what you really want. When it comes to your brand, you need to weigh the pros and cons. For me, it was simple, I just wasn’t happy with my blog name, my layout, fonts, and pretty much needed something to kick my butt into gear. We’re only two weeks into 2018, and rebranding has already been so rewarding and one of the best decisions I could have made for my business. I’ve seriously learned so much in the process of rebranding, and it makes me feel so confident about my website. I have an amazing hosting service (Siteground), an awesome brand manager (Elle), a great SEO strategist (Clem), and wonderful supporters. So if you are even questioning your site’s identity (especially if you’re still bummed after a mini-makeover), I’m in full support of a rebrand.
