The Short Story

You’ve heard it from me a million times: I’m short. So when it comes to wearing a floral midi dress, I need to be strategic.

I’ve found that they key to the perfect midi dress is all about the details and silhouette.

So this one in particular was great for my 5’1 frame. It was a bit asymmetrical in that the sides were slit up a bit higher than the front and back. I loved this detail and it made this dress PERFECT for my vacation to South Carolina.

Let’s take a second to admire these adorable colorful houses. They were SO beachy and so cute! I honestly had no idea what to expect when Matt told me we were going to Myrtle Beach for a few days. We actually were a bit further south than Myrtle, and I honestly loved it more! It felt a bit more like a true beach town!

I also love the shoulder detail. The relaxed off the shoulder fit was probably my favorite part of this dress. We all know how I feel about an off the shoulder piece! Oh, and can you tell I love my boater hat (last worn in this post)? I love wearing it with dresses. Again, it adds a nice little casual touch.

You look so pretty Dana! And I love the slides. x

  • I’m 5’8 and sometimes I wish I was shorter but I do love my height for midi dresses! Such a fun, summery dress 🙂

  • Love this dress on you! I’m 5’4″ and even I sometimes stay away from the midi-length. I like high-low midi dresses or ones with asymmetrical hems or a hem that comes up at the side-seam. This one looks great on you and I love the sleeves too!

To be honest, I didn’t know that you were 5’1″. I am 5’5″ and even I sometimes don’t do midi! This dress is super pretty on you!

  • South Carolina is so cute! We were in Pawley’s Island last summer and it was the cutest little beach town! Also I love this dress on you, especially paired with those slides! xo Bryn http://www.waketonroad.com

Super adorable, Dana!!! I love maxi dresses but hate that I can’t wear it because I’m short (like you!) However, I’m starting to embrace my body for what it is, so I’m going to grab a maxi/midi dress to support that effort 😉
