What To Do When There Isn’t Enough Time In The Day To Get Sh*t Done

We’ve all been there before. When you have SO much to accomplish in a day, and before you know it, it’s midnight.

Productive days are the best days, in my opinion. But you know what gets in the way of productivity? Negativity and stress. I think it’s time we come to the realization that we are NEVER going to get more than 24 hours in a day. EVER. Okay, now that we’ve learned to cope with that, we need to find ways to really utilize the hours that we DO have.

So how do we do that? How do we figure out how to make time? By figuring out the things we can stop doing to make more time.

Bad habits

Old habits die hard. I know that. One of my worst bad habits is procrastinating. I am the QUEEN of putting things off. And in the end, I’m only hurting myself. And wasting time. A lot of time.

Saying yes to everything

When I first started blogging, I felt the need to say yes to every single opportunity that came my way. As my blog and Instagram grew, I was able to raise my rates, and in turn, turn down more opportunities. I also used to feel like I couldn’t turn down hanging out with my friends or attending events. Now? I’m like SORRY, gotta get home. Whether I’m too tired to go out, or just have more work to get done, I’m really getting better at saying no to more. It’s really helped me figure out how to make time for getting more work done.

Tasks you’re not good at

Now this isn’t to say that you couldn’t get better at said task, but when you’re running low on time and need to figure out how to make time, you need to act fast. For example, I am NOT good at Pinterest or SEO. I’ve tried the Pinterest courses, watched YouTube videos about SEO, and it just didn’t work. I simply did not have the time to dedicate to fully teaching myself these things. In order to continue growing my business, I outsourced instead. By outsourcing the SEO and Pinterest portions of my every day tasks, I’ve been able to make more time in my day for actually creating content!

Feeling guilty

I sort of alluded to this on Instagram, but I’ve been feeling a little burnt out. I’m not trying to make up excuses, but coming up with content has been a little difficult for me. I started 2018 off on such a high note, and I was on a roll for the first three months of the year. I’m DONE with feeling guilty about not being able to come up with content. Instead of feeling guilty, I’m going to try to channel that energy into getting inspired.

Unnecessary phone time

I’ve talked about digital detoxes on the blog before, but I’m not talking about one now. When it comes to figuring out how to make time, I need to stop the mindless scrolling. The time I spend scrolling through social media can be spent writing, planning, or emailing.

When we stop doing the things that cause stress (and waste time), we give ourselves an opportunity to do all of the things we WISH we could get done in a day. What are you going to STOP making time for, so that you can get sh*t done?!
