Switching it up a bit on Elle’s Edit this week and sharing what I’m currently loving.
This week was a rough one with what is going on in America with the two horrific shootings. I’m not going to go into too much detail here as this is Dana’s blog and not mine but I think we can all agree that this needs to stop and has been going on for way too long. So with that being said, in sad times, I always try to find things that inspire me, make me happy, and if I can, make the world a better place. I decided to round up a list of things that have either caught my eye, made me laugh, or made me happy.
On Saturday, Dana and I ventured out to Brooklyn to get friendship bracelets. Let me back it up a bit, these aren’t friendship bracelets but they are bracelets that they weld on your arm (kind of sounds aggressive) and the only way to remove them is by scissors meaning that these bracelets are basically permanent. I wanted to find Dana a good birthday gift this year because she means the world to me and she knows I’m someone who loves to give a meaningful gift or put it towards and experience together. I am so glad I found this brand called Welding Annex because the bracelet is just perfect. It is simple and classy and every time I look at it, I think of how lucky I am to have Dana in my life.
Our sweet friend Jenn posted a picture of the 4 of us (Jenn, Allie, Dana, and myself) and wrote the sweetest message about friendship and how lucky we were to find each other. It is CRAZY to me that social media has brought us all together and has introduced me to some incredible people. The craziest part of it all is that I am a NOBODY with no following whatsoever and these people want to be friends with me. ME! It just shows how influencers and bloggers are normal people just like the rest of us.
Recently I’ve really been into reading and let me tell you, I’m really enjoying it. I have never been a reader, Emily and Grace inspire me ALL the time with all the books they read but recently I have become more of a fan. A couple girlfriends from work and I decided to do a book club and we meet monthly and discuss the book over some wine of course and it has been so fun! Recently we read the Hate U Give and it is a DEEP book but is exceptional. Right now, I am reading Verity (on my own) and have been hooked!
If you know me, you know I HATE yoga. My mom/dad bought me a yoga package to this place called Y7 because I was complaining to them how stressed I was at work and in all honesty all aspects of my life and they thought yoga would help. I have NO idea how my mom found this place but Y7 is basically yoga but SO much better. The music is all up beat and hip hop and no typical yoga music. I absolutely LOVE this because my biggest problem with yoga before was the music and I would just get bored. So bless up Y7, I’m thankful for you.
Now food related, I found these plantain chips that are SO FREAKING GOOD. I don’t know what made me try these because plantains always freaked me out and I still don’t understand what they are but these are next level. Another weird food discovery that I had are carrots. Hear me out on this one, I used to LOVE baby carrots and eat them with hummus all the time but then I had an AHA moment and I was like where do baby carrots come from? LOL too much time on my hands at that moment, clearly. So I have resorted to normal carrots and chopping them up myself. You are probably saying to yourself, what is wrong with this girl but I’m here being real with y’all.
